Shots:

I aimed to have as many shots in my opening as possible so its doesnt get boring. Also to make it look more disturbing and a little confusing for the veiwer.

Music

It starts off with a subtle piano sound that I made using garage band. Then it suddenly snaps into a dramatic track called 'Invading action thriller' this makes the audience feel sympathetic towards the character at the beggining and then on edge when the dramatic sounds kicks in.

LITTLE TIME

The title is called 'Little Time' because in the full movie the main character is given a time limit in which to kill her victims. If she fails to do the deed in a certain amount of time she will be killed herself.

Later on in the movie she is told to kill her parents which she refused to do and therefore is soon to be killed by the people who she was hired by.

Effects

How I created the flickered effect on alot of my footage.

Step 1: You add your full clip. In this case it was just an image of a digital alarm clock.
Step 2: You cut your clip up using the cut tool on final cut
Step 3: You delete several clips and split the clips apart leaving gaps
Step 4: You change the sizes, contrast, hue ect of each individual clip for extra effect.
Step 4: You can change the colour using colour corrector.

The gaps that are left will just show a blank black screen so this will enable the image to flash on and off. This tends to look better if your image has a black background and in my case it was.

Representations

The fruit machine snips represent the gamble in her life that she is taking. The gamble of killing people for money.

The newspaper and television snips represent the media when somone murders.

TITLES.

I wanted white titles to show this is a thriller. Cold and bold.
If this was a horror I would of used read and a more creepy font.

Extra footage that I added for effect.

I added extra clips to make the footage more trippy and disturbing.
The line 'Killing is not my hobbie its my job' was added in seperate clips per word to make the audience hooked. I made this line up because it fits in with the storyline of the movie (which is not shown in the opening)

I did this by separatly screen shotting each word and importing them into final cut. I then edited them so they were all differant sizes. Then I added noise to make them look fuzzy and distorted.

Editing

When editing my footage I used colour corrector which enabled me to add a dark and distorted look to my thriller.

On some clips I added an effect called 'diffuse'
This was to make the hand held shot footage look as if the
character was drunk.

I also used an effect called 'Crystalise' on the end title of the sequence to give an edgy look.

I added noise onto the clips with white writing on that read 'Killing is not my hobbie its my job'
I did these as separate clips for each word to make the veiwer hooked.

Props I will use to create a distorted effect

I will use the cut tool on final cut express to chop these images up, delete every other section and then edit the contast, zoom and colour of the leftover clips to make them look edgy and distorted.

Main Character

Music

I decieded to use an already existing soundtrack for my thriller seeing as I couldnt find a sutible rythem for my visuals. Its called Invading action thriller- House of horror.
Some would argue that it sounds more like horror, however my character and my thriller conventions will still make it look like a thriller.

SOUND

I made several soundtracks using garage band however struggled to find sounds that made the film look and feel like a thriller. I started off by making a track with emotional piano so the audience would feel sypathetic towards my character at the beginning.

Editing

When editing my footage I started off my cutting simple clips to form a 2 minute sequence that I could then tweet to improve. With effects such as colour collecter enabled me to change the apperance of the clip and so I made it look dark and tense. I also got some images from google which I cut up to create a flashing effect, this made the clip disturbing and edgy.

PROPS

-         Can of beer
-         Cigarette
-         Phone box
-         Clock
-         Tap
-         Newspaper
-         Black hooded jumper

Camera angles:

I want to use as many different camera angles as possible while shooting. I will be using a tripod to keep the camera steady however I will be using hand held a lot of the time to create a more edgy feel to the footage.

- Extreme Close ups of the character (Mouth when drinking a beer)
-High angles looking down at the character to represent class
- Mid shots to get the character and surroundings
- Hand held to put the audience in the characters shoes
- Close up of the character to highlight expression (feelings/ emotion)

Location- Cambridge tunnel on Newmarket road.

IDEAS FOR THRILLER.

-          Young girl having a cigarette and a beer in the street, represented as alone and suspicious.
-          We follow her walking through tunnels, up stairs and through car parks.
-          She then goes into a telephone box to try call someone (the audience don’t know who at this point)
-          The story continues with her being hired and payed to kill people, she is soon to discover that she has been hired to kill both her parents who she had no connection with as a child as she was adopted.
-          She cant bring herself to kill them and therefore makes out she has killed them when really she didn’t. She took the money and went into hiding from the people who hired her as they aim to kill her.
-          Her and her parents change their appearance and set up a new place to live away from the city.
-          The beginning of the film will give little away to this story.

PRODUCTION COMPANY.

Warner bros logo

This gave a soft impression with the rippling gold image, it also gave a small dramatic influence as the music had a dramatic feel

Dreamworks logo

This again gave an impression of a child friendly atmosphere as there is a child on the moon fishing

What conventions are used?

- Drinks, martini's

Likes and dislikes?

- The characters were good looking
- Like the camera angles
- Good mise en scene
- Liked the dark voices, made it more serious

Let him have it!

The titles were all shown before any pictures where shown
towards the end of the title sequence we could hear a bomb or two going off
this would be to set the scene before the pictures are actually shown
the way that they did this would mean it would give us no clue to kind of genre this film could be until the bombs sounded as it could gives us the impression of war.
no characters were introduced.

Murder By Numbers

Genre- thriller crime with a hint of action
was a sort of hybrid
characters young think they know it all
kill themselves?
strange beginning could be showing the ending at the beginning?
the sounds starts before the characters can be seen
a lot of angels to make the scene more intense
titles plain straight to the point like the character Cassie Mayweather
they also fitted well in to the shots especially the shot of the two boys kneeling on the floor
